Twelve Things You Didn’t Know You Needed to Pack for Your Trip to Walt Disney World

Part 2

Here are the last six things I recommend packing for your magical vacation.

7. Empty Luggage or Large Bag/Duffle for Souvenirs

You may feel foolish checking in an empty piece of luggage however you will appreciate it on your departure day.  This can by used for your souvenirs that you have collected over the course of your vacation.  Believe me, you don’t realize the amount until you spread it out on the bed to try and pack it all!  Another option is to fold up a large bag (carry-on size) and pack it.  Then stuff it full of your precious purchases and carry it with you to keep it safe and protected.  My yearly Xmas ornaments would never make it home in one piece otherwise!

8. External Battery to Charge Phone

In Disney, you don’t only use your phone to call your spouse, friends and family.  The My Disney Experience app is a useful tool you will use often throughout your vacation.  And when you are not using Memory Maker photographers you will be capturing precious memories (and selfies!) on your camera phone all day long.

9. Small Travel Umbrella

You never know when an afternoon shower will pop up in FL.  A small travel umbrella tucked into the bottom of your backpack can really save the day!  Pack it inside a plastic grocery bag so when it is wet all of your belongings will stay dry!

10. Small Fan

Attention white noise fans!  If you need a fan to sleep soundly you’ll need to pack one.

Hint: listen to the fans before you buy – they have different frequencies and everyone seems to have their own preference for peaceful sleep.

11. Gift Cards for Kids

Teach your kids to budget!  Give them a Disney gift card with a pre-determined spending amount.  Even better, make them earn it before the trip!  Two weeks of cooperative, chore-completing children will be heavenly.  If you own a Target credit card or are a member of Costco, BJ’s, Sam’s Club etc. you can buy them at a discount!

12. Small Container, Shallow Basket, or Box

In a Disney resort room you need a “drop place” – somewhere to place items at day’s end before climbing into bed when you are weary-eyed from your park touring.  Keep your
Magic Bands, watches, jewelry and other important things handy so you can get up and go the next morning!  The bottom of your Magic Band box is an excellent option.

One of my favorite things to do at Walt Disney World during Christmas is to visit the deluxe resorts.  Each resort is decorated in it’s own unique way.  The Grand Floridian features a life sized gingerbread house in it’s lobby.  When you walk in, you can smell the gingerbread…yum!!  Here’s a time lapse video of how the magic happens at the Grand Floridian! https://youtu.be/Si2pcosZjbk
