Is My Child Too Young to Go to Disney?

We hear it all the time.

"My child is only 18 months old he/she will not remember this trip to Disney, and I want them to be old enough to remember their first trip. I know they are free, but is it worth the money to go if they won't remember the details."

My honest answer?
Yes your child is too young to remember the details of this trip, and you are correct in thinking that they will not remember seeing the castle for the first time or meeting Mickey. But is it worth it?
Yes, yes, yes. 100 times over YES!
Your child might not remember the details of this trip, but you as his/her parent will.

See this picture of my family at Epcot? My daughter is 11 months old here. She will never remember the details of that day. It was a perfect Florida day filled with sunshine! We strolled around the countries snacking, saw Mickey Mouse, and rode Nemo. We did all of those things plus more while watching the smile on her face. This is a picture I will cherish forever. One day when she is older I'll pull this picture out and tell her everything we did on that day and how much fun our little family had.

See this picture of my daughter smiling at Mickey Mouse? She will not remember that interaction. We greeted Minnie first and she was a little nervous. She stayed clinging to her Daddy with no smiles given. We went around the corner to see Mickey and she did the same thing. I asked her where Mickey Mouse was and something clicked. She reached for him with a smile I will never forget. I can't wait to share that story with her one day!
See, while our children might not remember the details we will. How precious those memories will be to us.
One day we can pull old photos and videos out to remind us of the fun we had during that phase in life and tell our daughter about the adventures she took when she was too young to remember.
See we can buy all the toys, books, sporting events, hobbies, etc in the world, but we can not buy memories
So, go be adventurous! Book that cruise with your 3 year old. Take your 18 month old to Disney.

They won't remember, but I can assure you that you will never forget the fun of that trip or the way your heart was filled with joy watching this tiny human you care for having the time of their life!

XOXO,
Your Memory Maker, Ashton
