Pick A Pearl

Walt Disney World is a place everyone can go to find fun and magic. There is magic around every corner and fun for people of every age.  Did you know that you can immerse yourself into foreign cultures on your magical vacation as well?

Inside Walt Disney World’s Epcot park you will find the World Showcase.  Throughout the World Showcase, countries around the world are highlighted through architecture, cuisine and culture.  As you walk from Mexico to Canada you find yourself transported as if you are entering a new country with each step you take.   The architecture mimics the land it portrays along with infamous icons that undeniably state where you are visiting.  But inside these beautifully portrayed lands is the emersion to culture that truly transports you to these faraway places. 

Today, let’s highlight the cultural experience inside Japan’s pavilion.  While visiting Japan make sure you stop by Mitsukoshi where inside you can partake in the “Pick a Pearl” experience.  You will find inside a shallow tank filled with oysters.  For a minimal fee, you can select your own oyster with a pearl inside. The cast member assisting you will teach you the way to properly greet each other in Japanese and then help you countdown, in Japanese of course, as they open your oyster to find your precious gem.  Your enthusiastic Cast Member will help you chant aloud, san, ni, ichi… as you discover which precious pearl you will be taking home. 

The fun doesn’t stop there!

For an additional fee, you can have your pearl set into a beautiful piece of jewelry to serve as a keepsake from your magical vacation.  Who is ready to pick your own pearl the next time you visit Walt Disney World?
