Carry a
cinch-sack to the parks.
To help get through the security bag check a little
faster, put all your items in two large zipper-top bags before putting them in
the sack. Security will love this as it will make their job easier by being
able to just look at the bags instead of digging through the cinch-sack.
Water bottles
Purchase water bottles in bulk at a local
grocery store or grocery delivery service.
This will save you lots of money!
It will also save you time – no looking for snack carts or standing in
line. Make sure to pack in an insulated
cooler or container to keep your water cold and refreshing.
Sunscreen
Chances are you will forget to put sunscreen on
while at your resort. Keep some in your
pack so you and your family will always be protected. Buying one at the parks is crazy expensive (I
know, I’ve bought one!) A sunburn could
ruin an otherwise wonderful vacation.
Quarters
Make sure to tuck several dollars in quarters in
your pack each park day to use for the penny presses found throughout Disney
properties. Pressed pennies make a
wonderful keepsake! You can even put
them in a special pressed penny book to add to each time you visit WDW. And of course make sure to pack your supply
of shiny pennies that you’ve collected for your trip.
Security Bag Check Tip
Send one family member with all your bags through
security bag check. The other family
members can walk through the no bag line and wait for you on the other
side. This will be much less stressful
for impatient children and adults who don’t like standing in line. Designate one adult for the whole trip or
take turns!
Do not pack glass bottles. You might love your Snapple ice tea but
you’ll need to drink it down before checking your bag. Also make sure to use plastic, not glass baby
bottles for your time in the parks.
Light Jacket
If you are traveling in the fall or winter pack a
light jacket, sweater or sweatshirt for everyone if you plan to stay at the
park in the evening. Even in FL the
nights can be chilly during these seasons.
If you like, you can store them in a locker until needed that evening.
Lockers are available in each park for a minimal cost. In addition, during all seasons, (if not
wearing one) pack hats to help beat the hot FL sun. And look super cute in all your pictures too!
Snacks
Pack snacks that everyone likes to eat during the
day. Disney is very good about providing
varied and healthy options when it comes to snacks. However, you can save money and time by
packing your own. Save your money for
the Disney spurge snacks like a Mickey ice cream sandwich or a Mickey cake pop!
Charger
If you are like me and use your phone A LOT
during your vacation pack an external battery charger in your day pack. Taking and viewing pictures use up your battery
quickly as does Facebook if you are posting pictures for your friends, family
and Zip Travel! You will also find
yourself using My Disney Experience, Disney’s park planning app throughout the
day as well. There are charging stations
in the parks as well as battery chargers to purchase. I have never done either and feel the small
cost spent before the trip worth it to save time and money while on vacation.
Glow Stick
Glow sticks or other light toys can be handy while
you wait for nighttime entertainment to begin.
(Fireworks, parades etc.) Glow
sticks are super inexpensive when purchased by the box. If you want something
fancier (and similar to Disney’s pricier options) search online or in your
local box store. If you travel
regularly, go ahead and purchase that light spinner on Main Street. Just be sure to pack it each year with fresh
batteries. Yes, we’ve actually done this
and the kids love it!
Extra Outfit
Part of the fun of a Disney vacation (for kids
especially) is cooling off with some water play or water rides. It can be a great way to beat the heat. For some getting wet means a splash or
two. For others it means a soaking! Pack a change of clothes, especially for
little ones, to avoid purchasing an outfit during the day! The other item to pack to stay dry is a
“disposable” type poncho. They fold up
nice and small and can be reused over and over again if you choose. Pack them in a plastic bag so you have a
storage option for wet ponchos.
Don’t skip this step!
Pack all day bags the night before. (Except your cold water bottles.) Give yourself the advantage of saving
precious morning time to enjoy a cup of coffee instead! Packing the night before also gives you less
opportunity to forget something. If
you’d like, make yourself a checklist for what to include. (I have not yet done this and have several
“extra” hat purchases adorning my closet.)
XOXO
Your Memory Maker, Lori
